Engineering Services
Marshall Aerospace delivers applied engineering services and technology solutions for a range of governments, aircraft OEMs and aerospace prime contractors.
With roots reaching back to 1909, Marshall Aerospace is a British aerospace and defence company with a rich engineering heritage and an enduring commitment to serving governments and prime contractors.
As a global leader in military maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), we work closely with aircraft operators to keep their fleets mission-ready and mission-capable. We have supported the C-130 Hercules since 1966, earning multiple world-first accreditations, permissions and accolades for our excellence on the platform.
Drawing on decades of engineering expertise and wide-ranging design organisation approvals, we are able to plan, integrate and certify complex programmes from start to finish, from standard avionics upgrades to completely bespoke special mission conversions.
We are also a leader in advanced manufacturing, designing and producing parts, components and complex subsystems for flagship defence programmes under long-term contracts for some of the world’s largest OEMs.
Our global network matches our diverse customer base. Wherever we operate, our people share a common sense of purpose and pride in our engineering excellence.
Marshall Aerospace’s story spans more than a century of engineering ambition, innovation and service. From our beginnings in Cambridge in 1909 and the opening of our first airfield in 1929, we have grown alongside some of aviation’s defining moments.
During the Second World War, our engineers repaired and modified more than 5,000 aircraft, laying the foundations for generations of aerospace expertise. During the decades that followed, our engineers contributed to the development of Concorde, while our long association with the C-130 Hercules began in the 1960s and has since become one of the defining relationships in our history.
Over time, our capabilities have expanded across aircraft modification, maintenance, engineering, manufacturing and specialist mission systems, supporting military operators and aerospace partners around the world.
While the technology, platforms and challenges have changed, much of what defines Marshall Aerospace has remained constant: deep engineering expertise, craftsmanship, collaboration and a determination to find solutions where others see complexity.
Today we continue to build on that heritage, combining more than a century of experience with the skills, technologies and ideas needed to support the next generation of aerospace programmes.
Our people share a strong sense of purpose and pride in our engineering excellence. For more than a century, we have been driven to do the right thing, and to solve problems that others walk away from.
We apply the same exacting standards of innovation and quality to everything we do—whether the job is keeping aircraft airworthy, helping a customer take a product from concept to reality, or manufacturing components for flagship defence programmes.
Building on our hard-earned reputation for engineering excellence, we are proud to work shoulder to shoulder with an incredibly diverse range of customers including armed forces, humanitarian organisations, and the world’s largest aerospace and defence contractors.
From designing Concorde’s iconic nose to preparing entire fleets of aircraft for entry into service, we are proud of the part we play in helping our customers succeed - often in the most challenging of circumstances.
No matter which part of our business they belong in, our people are constantly striving to deliver outstanding results for our customers.
This shared pursuit of excellence by everyone from the newest apprentice to the leadership team gives us with the momentum and courage to adapt and meet the challenges of an ever changing world.
We are enormously proud to have trained over 21,000 apprentices over the course of our history, and we are committed to creating more extraordinary opportunities for young people - building a pipeline of talent for the future.
Our story is one of enduring partnerships built on trust, reliability and collaboration.
We work alongside some of the world’s largest defence primes and OEMs, supporting major programmes through our expertise in design, manufacturing, integration and through-life support.
Long-standing relationships with organisations including Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Thales sit alongside strategic partnerships with AMMROC, Dowty and QinetiQ, combining complementary strengths, capabilities and market knowledge.
Whether supporting established platforms, developing new solutions or pursuing new opportunities, we believe our best work is achieved by working together with partners who share our commitment to customers and long-term success.
Sustainability is increasingly shaping how we operate and how we apply our aerospace expertise. Our ISO 14001-certified environmental management system supports efforts to reduce the impact of aircraft maintenance, modification and manufacturing, while continued investment in our facilities is helping us improve efficiency and reduce resource use.
At our Cambridge paint facility, advanced air-cleaning technology has significantly reduced emissions and gas consumption. Across our wider estate, we are also incorporating measures including solar PV, LED lighting, high-efficiency HVAC systems, air source heat pumps, EV charging and water-saving equipment.
Our engineering capabilities support sustainability in other ways too, helping customers extend the operational life of existing aircraft through upgrades, repairs and major structural work. Looking ahead, we are also applying our expertise in aircraft integration, certification and complex fuel systems to emerging technologies, including hydrogen-electric propulsion, as the aerospace sector explores new approaches to reducing its environmental impact.
