Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has developed and launched a digital control system, to enable military users to remotely monitor and control their containerised systems from one central location.
The new Track and Trace and Health and Usage Systems (HUMS) are being fitted to containers supplied by the company to the Dutch Armed forces in the multi-million-pound DVOW contract over the next five years.
Within the containers the system control and monitoring is achieved through an intelligent LCD screen control interface, that securely communicates with a dedicated secure server at Marshall’s Cambridge headquarters.
The initial Track and Trace elements of the service will be activated in October, with the full HUMS system service active in February, on delivery of the Maintenance Warehouse containers.
This will allow users to track, control and monitor a number of functions, including performance and usage of the sub-systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, humidification, dehumidification, power generators, CBRN, various container sensors, alerts and maintenance states.
Marshall engineers worked in collaboration with two Dutch companies, Add-Mission and GTT Systems, to introduce the technology, which will enable Marshall NL to plan and control the movement and availability of the container systems for the Dutch military to ensure they can continue to protect people in critical situations, and supporting Marshall’s Industrial Participation (IP) commitment, which stipulates collaboration with the customer’s country.
